Your Not-So-Scary night closes with a quick stop for Halloween treats, and then a look around the Magic Kingdom. Take a stroll down a colorful Main Street U.S.A. with Halloween lighting effects and window displays that include Mickey, Minnie and Donald’s nephews! The scarecrows in Town Square bid you goodbye before we take one last lingering look. Carved pumpkins above the Main Street Train Station spell out “See Ya Real Soon” as your Halloween Party night concludes.
Bonus Easter Egg: It’s Good to Be Bad Villainous Celebration Pre-Parade
Many of your favorite villains were part of this pre-parade during the 24 hour Rock Your Disney Side party at the Magic Kingdom! Maleficent, Oogie Boogie, Megara & Hades, Bowler Hat Guy and the Evil Queen are just some of the characters you will see!
We attended the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for 2014, and are already looking forward to one more! There are some changes from last year, and we wanted to share some tips for enjoying the Party this year. The Party we attended had VERY light crowds, that won’t usually be the case.
Here are our tips! Many are similar to previous years, but a few have changed. You can also watch us talk about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Mousesteps Weekly #115!
Order Tickets Early. Halloween night is already sold out, and other dates may end up the same. In addition, some dates offer advance purchase discounts.
Arrive Early. While Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party begins at 7:00 p.m., guests can enter at 4:00 p.m. and enjoy the Magic Kingdom for a few hours before the Party even starts!
Prioritize What You Want to Do. Are you interested in characters? Rides? Trick-or-Treating? 5 hours isn’t a long time when it comes to everything that is available to do, including Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade and HalloWishes. Decide what is most important. We stood in line earlier than the Party started for Jack & Sally, only using about 15 of our Party minutes in line (but nearly an hour and a half before that). The Seven Dwarfs Line can also be long during the evening, so we will visit them early next Party.
Pick Up Your Special Sorcerer’s of the Magic Kingdom Card. This souvenir card will make a nice momento from the Party, and can be picked up at the Fire Station beginning at 4:00 p.m.
See the Second Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade. The second parade is always less busy than the first. Many guests leave after HalloWishes, allowing for a much less busy parade route. Changes to the parade this year include the addition of Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope. Don’t miss the Headless Horseman!
Watch Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade in Frontierland. While we often watch it in Town Square, I actually like to see it in Frontierland the best if just for fun, since the parade passes there first. By the time it arrives in Town Square (as seen in the videos below), another 15 minutes have passed, which also means 15 less Party minutes!
Visit Talking Mickey in His Halloween Costume. Mickey is dressed in his Halloween finest (we thought he might not be since he didn’t dress in Christmas attire last year), and he even has some Halloween jokes to share! He taught us his Zombie Goofy moves.
Adults Can Trick or Treat. Trick-or-Treating doesn’t have to be just a childhood memory. While we didn’t spend much time on the treat trails during the first Party, it is fun to collect some candy along with the kids.
Wear Your Best Costume! Up until maybe a few years ago, not that many costumes were worn at the early Parties, it was something saved more for the Halloween time-frame. That isn’t the case anymore. Adults and kids alike dress in Disney and non-Disney themes. There were a lot of Anna and Elsa outfits at the first Party, along with a myriad of other costumes.
See the Villains Mix and Mingle Live on Stage After Dark. Right now, it is light during the first show. But as September progresses, that should change. The lighting effects really make the show, and you will want to see them! There are only 3 shows each night this year, down from four last year. There is also no mixing and mingling with characters in this location, the available villains are at Club Villain (including Cruella DeVil, Lady Tremaine, Dr. Facilier and Judge Frollo).
Arrive Early for HalloWishes to Watch Celebrate the Magic. Hallowishes begins at 9:30 p.m., with Celebrate the Magic beginning at 9:15 p.m. We recommend standing back from Cinderella Castle to enjoy the perimeter fireworks, but close enough to see the castle projections – our favorite spot is in the middle of Main Street near Casey’s Corner.
Visit Club Villain. New this year at the Diamond Horseshoe, Club Villain allows guests to meet and dance with many of their favorite villains! We also enjoyed the artwork and atmosphere in the Diamond Horseshoe. Young kids may prefer the Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball in Tomorrowland.
Specialty Treats Are Available. If candy isn’t enough, then other treats can be found at locations around the Magic Kingdom. They are listed in the guide map! This year, Storybook Treats serves Candy Corn Ice Cream; Gaston’s Tavern sells Ghost Cupcakes; and outdoor carts sell Cotton Candy Candy Corn, among other goodies. If you want regular food, some restaurants do stay open until midnight, but not all – check the guide map for times.
Stay Late. The last hour of the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the least busy hour, and worth staying up for. If you want to take photos like we did on Main Street, you have until around 1:00 a.m. Use the time after midnight to check out the themed pumpkins on Main Street!
Guests can also pay an extra $99 for the Villain’s Sinister Soiree: A Wicked Takeover of Cinderella Castle. That is in addition to the Party ticket, and includes viewing for Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade and HalloWishes – along with a dessert party with villains inside Cinderella Castle. We will not be attending that this year.
