The Epcot International Garden and Festival kicked off it’s 20th year yesterday! The main entrance topiary has changed since we were there the day previous, with hot dogs on the grill (below, left) and Donald and Daisy with their badminton equipment (below, right).
The Festival blooms look gorgeous, with the quilt of flowers livening up the walkway between Future World and World Showcase along the Imagination walkway (below, left). Beautiful floral trees are on the fountain stage with Spaceship Earth in view (below, right).
Radiator Springs is new this year, along the walkway occupied by the fairy garden the last few years (below, left). Lightning McQueen is part of the playground area (below, right).
There are activities and information to be found here (below, left), as well as the Mater topiary display (below, right). The playground is open currently until the close of Epcot. Mater and Lightning McQueen are illuminated at night.
Video #1 – Radiator Springs Play Zone, with Mater & Lightning McQueen, Epcot Flower & Garden Festival 2013 – Lightning McQueen and Mater topiaries are part of a “Radiator Springs Interactive Play Zone” at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival 2013! The Festival lasts through May 19th.
Sully (below, left) and Mike Wazowski (below, right) are part of the Monsters University topiary display. Sully looms over Mike!
Several trees get the monster treatment (below, left) on each side of the display. You can see Sully’s back (below, right), as Mike and Sully gaze upon Spaceship Earth.
Video #2 – Monsters University Topiary Display – Mike Wazowski & Sully, Epcot Flower and Garden Festival, Pixar – Mike and Sully are now both in place for the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival to promote the film Monsters University!
2013 brought some changes to the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, including the addition of Dole Whips with spiced rum (below, left). I enjoyed it, Denise wasn’t as big a fan of it!

There were plenty of surprise meet and greets over the last couple of days at World Showplace, including Rapunzel (below, left) and Tinker Bell (below, right). Rapunzel was looking for Pascal and Flynn Rider, and Tinker Bell gave us some advice on learning to fly!

Video #5 – Tinker Bell Surprise Meet at Epcot’s International Gateway – Tells Us What We Need to Fly – Tinker Bell had surprise meet-and-greet in the International Gateway today, and told us what it takes to fly (among other things)!
The Backyard Play Garden includes some interesting ways to use items found around the house and garden (below, left). In Morocco, the spice ball display is back (below, right).
We stopped at the American Adventure to eat and the Smokehouse Barbecue & Brews (below, left). Woody is the topiary here, and guests can see the barbecue grill in action (below, right).
I tried the Pulled Pig slider with Cole Slaw (below, left) with a Mama’s Little Yella Pils beer. It was delicious! Denise had the Smoked Beef Brisket with Collard Greens and Jalapeno Corn Bread. She liked the corn bread, but found the beef had too much fat. The Rocky Road Brownie Mousse is definitely a good option for chocolate lovers (below, right).
Video #6 – Smokehouse BBQ Barbecue & Brews at Epcot Flower & Garden with Pixar Woody and Lotso Toparies – Toy Story’s Woody is at the center of the Smokehouse Barbecue & Brews at Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival 2013! Beers and barbecue are found here, and the Lotso topiary is nearby as well!
At the Festival Center, Goofy and the rest of the Fab 5 are outside of the entrance (below, left). We can’t wait for a hands-on plant seminar when we have time (below, right). Most of our plants – maybe all of them – come from the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival!
We took one of the United Kingdom Tea Tours, which is always a must-do for us (below, left). Claire was giving her first tour of the Festival, and did a great job! We learned more about tea, and enjoyed the free samples (below, right).
At night, some of the topiaries are lit up. Beauty and the Beast stand in twinkling lights (below, left). One of our favorite displays, the Bromeliad Dragon in China, lights up beautifully (below, right).
And the Monsters University Topiary display (below, left) shines bright at night. Phineas and Ferb are bathed in alternating colors (below, right). It’s definitely worth staying a little later this year!
