We paid a short visit to the Magic Kingdom to meet SHAG (Josh Agle) as he signed his Walt Disney World 40th Anniversary artwork. On our way in, we were happy to see that the Main Street Confectionery (below left and right) now has awnings and signage that mute the red border and finish the look to this building!
This sign was now hanging outside of the Confectionery (below, left). And a standing sign was outside of the Uptown Jewelers for SHAG’s appearance (below, right).
Video #1 – Main Street Confectionery Added Awnings, New Signage And Colors 6/24/11 Magic Kingdom – The Main Street Confectionery has had the scrim come down, it looks really great! Newly added are the awnings with candy color detailing and new signage.
We timed our visit so we didn’t have to wait in as long of a line (we waited about 10 -15 minutes), arriving an hour into the signing. SHAG’s merchandise includes a double matted lithograph, a Hawaiian style shirt for men, a t-shirt for women, postcards and coasters (below, left). SHAG is always very friendly when meeting guests (below, right). He actually does more work outside of Disney than for Disney, we visited his Palm Springs studio last year.

We were invited to tour the Reedy Creek Emergency Services behind the Magic Kingdom with a group of friends (below, left). Walking into the station, we saw one of their ambulances (below, right).
This truck (below), is for aiding and/or evacuating monorails when there is a problem that can’t be solved using the work tractor. It almost never is used. We were really impressed with the set-up of Reedy Creek and found out a lot of interesting tidbits of information. Emergency personnel usually get where they need to go anywhere on Walt Disney World property within 10 minutes. There are sensors for fires around Walt Disney World parks and resorts, so fires are very rare. And the Communicators (like our friend Keithan, below, right) took approximately 31,000 calls last year! Most of these calls are for stumbles and dehydration, but some are more serious. We really enjoyed the tour! The small call center is immaculate and the Communicators are heavily trained and well-qualified for their job.
