I spent the day with friends on Saturday, taking some time to get photos and video of changes to the Magic Kingdom since we were last there. The first stop was the Haunted Mansion (below, left), which has added directional signs showing the way to the “scenic route” and the “direct route” (below, right), depending on whether you want to see the interactive queue or not.
Master Gracey’s tomb has been lengthened, apparently there were some complaints about the extremely short burial plot (below left and right). You can see how it formerly looked in our Haunted Mansion queue video below!
Video #1 – Haunted Mansion Interactive Queue Detailed Tour 3/16/11 Walt Disney World – This is a 9 minute tour of the new interactive queue at the Haunted Mansion, Walt Disney World! You’ll see a lot of great features – the Sea Captain, interactive musical “instruments”, books that slide in and out of the wall and more.
The park wide exterior maintenance project continues as The Pecos Bill Cafe is now behind a scrim (below left and right).
Clarabelle Cow (below, left) gets ready for the Frontierland Hoedown (we have video HERE). We’ve had a great time during the hoedowns, which take place in front of the Country Bear Jamboree. The former Fantasyland Skyway is in the process of removal to make room for a new set of restrooms (below, right).
Closer views of the Fantasyland Skyway building (below left and right), which we’ll miss seeing in the future! The rumored reason for it’s removal is new bathrooms to make room to expand and enhance the queue for Peter Pan’s Flight (which we have heard will be another interactive queue). If true, this would be a much needed improvement to a very slow moving and hot queue experience.
Belle’s Cottage is moving right along (below, left), and the rock work has been taking shape for a couple of months (below, right).
Another photo over the wall (below, left) shows the progression of the Fantasyland construction. A planter is being removed near the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel (below, right).
The Little Mermaid show building (below, left) is looking great with the addition of rock work (below, right). The attraction recently opened at Disney California Adventure in California and I look forward to experiencing it myself later this summer!
There is now a wall where the Storybook Circus posters were (below, left). Dumbo’s Circus has completely changed in the weeks since we’ve been there. You can see Dumbo’s Circus tent begin to take shape (below, right).
Work continues next to the tent in the former Mickey’s Toontown Fair (below, left). In Tomorrowland, the rotating ball is surrounded by yet another wall (below, right).
