mickey-patrioticLAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.Guests celebrating the Fourth of July at Walt Disney World Resort will have a choice of fireworks shows plus other patriotic treats – including appearances by “Benjamin Franklin” and “Betsy Ross.” The spirit of the Fourth of July is up in the air after dark, and three Disney parks will be making a bang, with Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios presenting special pyrotechnics and Epcot adding a patriotic “tag” to its famous “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” spectacular.

Here’s what’s in store on July 4 (entertainment and park hours are subject to change without notice):

Magic Kingdom – “Celebrate America Fireworks” will fill the sky at 9 p.m.  After the fireworks, guests can enjoy Disney’s “Main Street Electrical Parade” of lights, music and magic at 10 p.m. and midnight. Park hours are 8 a.m.-1 a.m.

Disney’s Hollywood StudiosSpecial fireworks set to a rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack will be presented at 9:50 p.m., providing guests with a bonus nighttime entertainment extravaganza to complement “Fantasmic!” (which will be at 9 and 10:30 p.m.). Park hours are 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

Epcot “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth,” which features dazzling special effects, colorful lasers, brilliant fireworks and fiery torches all choreographed to a musical score, becomes even more dynamic on July 4 as the normal show is supplemented with a patriotic finale. The performance begins at 10 p.m.  Earlier in the day, guests will be treated to the Voices of Liberty 4th of July Concert – featuring an expanded cast of singers plus the Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corps and Disney characters – at 12:30, 1:45 and 3 p.m. on the America Gardens Theatre stage.  In addition, Betsy Ross will be engaging guests inside The American Adventure with storytelling, while Ben Franklin will be making appearances on the promenade near the attraction. Park hours are 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Guests can enjoy all the regular attractions and shows from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Jeff Lange brings the grandeur of Spectromagic, the brilliance of the Main Street Electrical Parade, and the dazzling display of the Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Show to your door with Jeff Lange’s Magic Kingdom Summertime 2010.

SpectroMagic (Final showing of the season 06/05/10)

Over a half-million lights shimmer and dance in this long-running Disney favorite! This is the final showing before Walt Disney World debuted the Main Street Electrical Parade for the summer of 2010. Mickey Mouse cuts a grand figure in a lighted magicians cape, directing the symphony of lights, color and sound that bring this brilliant parade to life. You will enjoy characters from classic movies that include “The Little Mermaid”, “Fantasia” and “Aladdin”. The finale highlights the real star of the show – the lights, which in a Disney parade first, change from white to brilliant color with the flick of a paint brush!

Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Show (Premiere 06/06/10)

This debut showing of the Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Show begins with the Fairy Godmother welcoming you, followed by a spectacular fireworks display to “Bibbiddi, Bobbidi Boo”. It isn’t long before Fauna and Merryweather fight to decide whether Cinderella Castle should be pink or blue. Soon, Captain Hook arrives and leads the pirate attempt to take over the castle, ending in an explosive battle with fireworks on the castle itself! Tinker Bell takes to the night sky and saves the castle with a wave of her magic wand.

Main Street Electrical Parade (Premiere 06/06/10)

Illuminated with over a half million twinkling lights, this most beloved of Disney’s parades is now back on Main Street at Walt Disney World for the summer of 2010! This multiple angle segment was shot premiere night from great views in Town Square and Main Street USA. Tinker Bell leads the parade in her all-new float, and this version includes the return of Pinocchio’s Pleasure Island float and the Seven Dwarfs glistening diamond mine! All your parade favorites are here including: Mickey’s Train, Alice in Wonderland, Pete’s Dragon and more! The Main Street Electrical Parade has never shone more brightly!

BONUS: “Top of the World” Fireworks Viewing (2010)

A spectacular and rare viewing of the Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Show from the exclusive Top of the World observation deck high atop the Contemporary Resort Bay Lake Tower! This version includes the fireworks music from the observation deck, and natural sound from below.

SpectroMagic Final Showing at the Magic Kingdom before the return of The Main Street Electrical Parade – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

SpectroMagic ended it’s current run last night, we spent the last 2 evenings at the Magic Kingdom to say goodbye and to get photos and video. I was in attendance for Spectromagic’s premier showing on October 1st, 1991 during Walt Disney World’s 20th anniversary celebration. I thought it’d be fitting that we be there for the final showing before the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade. The SpectroMen signaled the start of the parade (below, left). The classic Walt Disney World logo is shown (below, right).

Hi everyone!

It’s been a very busy week with family in town, and so much is going on at the parks – it’s been hard to keep up with everything, but it’s been fun trying! I also released a new DVD last week, Jeff Lange Remembers: Disney-MGM Studios Classics Vol 1. For more information or to order, please click HERE. Pirate Goofy made his meet and greet debut in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom (below, left and right)! It seems a natural choice to have him next to the Pirate League and he was very well received by the young pirates when I saw him!
