I’m currently attending the D23 Expo in California, I was hoping to get updates done from the arena – but it’s been absolutely incredible and busy! D23 went above and beyond anything I could have expected with the event, and it’s only half over. I will have photos within the week from any event I could take photos at.
Highlights include:
Bob Iger’s welcome address featuring 30 min of the upcoming film the Princess and the Frog.
The 2009Disney Legends award ceremony (photo below)
I’m currently en route to Anaheim, CA to attend the first D23 Expo! Please check back here at JeffLangeDVD.com, Mousesteps and JimHillMedia throughout the next few days for photos and updates.
I was able to attend the very first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year! Look soon for the Trick or Treat 6(Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2009). We took photos while driving in the front gate, including of Pumpkin Mickey (below, left). Cast members let guests in for the Halloween Party (below, right).
A new banner greets guests as they enter underneath the train station (below, left). Tweedledee and Tweedledum are part of the decor on Alice and Mad Hatters Treat Trail at Toontown (below, right).
The Mickey Ghost has been moved to the Pooh area (below, right). Mickey poses for a photo in his resplendent Halloween finery (below, right).
Stitch dances at Club 626, which is on (and in front of) the old Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration stage (below, left). The stage includes a DJ ( below, right).
Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween Parade begins (below, left). Snow White waves to the crowd (below, right).
A new Haunted Mansion Graveyard float has been added to the parade (below, left). Another new part of the parade is the Evil Queen, who replaced Ursula (below, right).
The Villains Mix and Mingle included new signage and decor at the stage (below, left). The Happy HalloWishes fireworks show was wonderful as always! (below, right).

There is so much going on around Walt Disney World – the first Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party is tonight, and I will be sharing photos from it this weekend! The most interesting part of my day yesterday was seeing the Space Mountain sign and Fast Pass machines stripped, as well as the Tomorrowland Skyway station partly torn down (My vintage footage of the Magic Kingdoms Tomorrowland can be found on my DVD, Tomorrowland Classics).
You can see below that the Space Mountain sign has been stripped of all color (below, left). Construction vehicles are parked in front of the Space Mountain building (below, right).
Halloween has taken over the Magic Kingdom, and it’s only 3 days until the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! Signs for the party are now outside of the park (below, left) and the train station is decked out with decor (below, right).
The Animation Building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the home to a new exhibit based on the upcoming hand-drawn film, The Princess and the Frog. The case (below, left) features props and drawings from the movie (below, right).
A sign for The Princess and the Frog (below left) sits outside the case. A painting of Madame Odie (below, right).
Princess Tiana as a maquette holds the frog (below, left). She also is in frog form (below, right).
There is also a nice Snow White exhibit in the Animation Building, called The Art of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (below, left). A maquette of the evil queen (below, right).

Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial moved to a new stage a few weeks back, and Mousesteps was there to get photos and video of the show! Note: These were taken several days after the accident that led to the death of a cast member in the show, our condolences go out to the family and friends of Mark Priest. There is a wonderful write-up about him in the Orlando Sentinel HERE.
