Hi everyone!
I’m currently attending the D23 Expo in California, I was hoping to get updates done from the arena – but it’s been absolutely incredible and busy! D23 went above and beyond anything I could have expected with the event, and it’s only half over. I will have photos within the week from any event I could take photos at.
Highlights include:
Bob Iger’s welcome address featuring 30 min of the upcoming film the Princess and the Frog.
The 2009 Disney Legends award ceremony (photo below)
A look at rare, vintage footage of Disneyland with Ed Hobelman and Tony Baxter.
The panel of talented Imagineering legends, hosted by Marty Sklar – including Alice Davis, X Antencio, and Bob Gurr.
“the boys“, a film about the Sherman Brothers. This was a GREAT film, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Hopefully it will be on DVD soon. The evening ended with the amazing Richard Sherman singing his favorite songs.
And that was just yesterday! Today I was there for the announcement of the Disney Cruise Line sailing to Alaska in 2011, the Dick Cook presentation which included appearances by Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston, Nicholas Cage, Robert Zemeckis, Jerry Bruckheimer, Miley Cyrus (she sang “The Climb”) and more! Then it was on to the “Making of the World of Color“, and a fascinating look at rare Disney shorts – including the unfinished “Destino” – with Dave Bossert and Don Hahn. We had done an interview with Hahn in July, he is a genuinely nice man who is endlessly interesting to listen to.
There will be more here soon, and photos sometime next week if I can’t find time before then!
