Today we have some photos of the recently closed (April 19th) Space Mountain and Tomorrowland Transit Authority attractions. Space Mountain has been in need of a overhaul for years. I will miss the bumpy but classic ride.
The arcade is also closed for the rehab (below left). A sad sight (below right) of the TTA closed down. This is a favorite of mine due to the relaxing ride high above Tomorrowland – the short line doesn’t hurt either. I often stay on and enjoy another trip.
I still refer to it as the Wedway or Peoplemover most of the time. The speed ramp (below left) and parked TTA ride vehicles (below right).
As a special bonus, we have some photos of a last trip through Space Mountain until the rehab in finished in November (or later). The start of the queue (below left) and the space effects screens (below right) keep us entertained in the line.
The exit/waiting area has a very 70’s feel (below left). The start of the post show speedramp (below right).
The current expected Space Mountain reopening date is November 22 2009 – that date could easily change. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority expected reopening date is August 19 2009.
