We enjoyed a day with a friend who was celebrating his birthday yesterday, and found a lot of changes to the Magic Kingdom as we were walking around. The “Enchanted Tiki Room – Under New Management” sign was gone (below, left and right), and today Orlando Attractions Magazine reported the new “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room” sign has been installed. We are very happy the attraction will now be back under Walt’s management!
The Tiki Birds may regret to say that the Tiki Room is closed (below, left), but it should be re-opened on August 15th! The new artwork (c. Disney) renames the new version “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room” (below, right).
Video #1 – “Under New Management” Sign Gone as Disney World Prepares for “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room” – Walt Disney World is planning an August 15th re-opening of “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room”. The “Under New Management” sign is now gone!
This was the original “Tropical Serenade” featuring a Wally Boag voiced Barker Bird (below, left), in a photo dating from around 1989. The sign changed later to read, The Enchanted Tiki Birds starring in the Tropical Serenade (below, right). This would remain until the “Under New Management” show opened.
The original Tiki Room pre-show (below, left) featured the banter of Claude and Clyde (which then changed to William and Morris with Under New Management). Sebastian Cabot (Claude) was a voice actor for animated Disney films including: Jungle Book as Bagheera, The Sword in the Stone as Sir Ector, and the narrator of Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day and Winnie the Pooh and the Hunny Tree. Voice actor Dal McKennon (Clyde) provided the voices for many Disney Attractions including the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad safety spiel, Ben Franklin’s voice in Epcot’s The American Adventure and the voice of Zeke in the Country Bear Jamboree. All of the birds should be back in their fine, feathered form! (below, right)
Video #2 – Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Birds Tropical Serenade Original Clyde and Claude Pre Show – In preparation for the soon to reopen (and now renamed) “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room” at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, I present the original pre-show featuring Clyde and Claude!
While at the Magic Kingdom, we also noticed that a scrim had gone up at the right entrance under the train station (below, left). Pinocchio passed us as we walked in the park (below, right).
We met our group of friends at the Main Street Bakery, picking up a delicious ice cream sandwich to split (below, left). Even with two of us eating it, the three scoops of ice cream between two large chocolate chip cookies was quite a challenge to eat! PUSH the talking trashcan (below, right) was out and about, and wished our friend a happy birthday.

Construction workers were busy in Fantasyland (below, left), which is different than our normal weekend visits. We don’t usually see as much work being done! A bridge is now visible at the Little Mermaid show building (below, right).
We rode the Walt Disney World Railroad (below, right), and had a different view of the upcoming Fantasyland station. Some of the construction walls have been removed, offering a good view of the former Barnstormer building, soon to be The Great Goofini (below, right).
The newest D23 magazine (below, left) hit the stands yesterday and is absolutely fantastic! We haven’t received ours at home yet, but it offers a great tribute to the 40 years of the Magic Kingdom. We had never noticed this sign on the way out before (below, right), letting guests know where the monorail, ferryboat and buses would be.
