Star Wars Weekends is now in full swing and I was there for opening day! One of the special things from yesterday was that the new R2-MK astromech (below left and right) was in the Legends of the Force Motorcade (I was told by some members of the media that it was a one-off for him being in the parade).
Video #1 – Star Wars Weekends Legends of the Force Motorcade Part 1 with R2-MK 5/20/10 – Part 1 of 2 from the Star Wars Weekends Legends of the Force Motorcade. We were told that R2MK would only be in this first parade of the year (click here for Part 2).
Jeremy Bulloch is hosting this year, and he joins all the Star Wars characters and celebrities onstage after the parade (below, left). Darth Goofy and Princess Leia Minnie greet show dramatic flair (below, right).
Video #2 – Star Wars Weekends Celebrity Welcome 5/21/10- Star Wars Weekends welcome 2010, the celebrity host is Jeremy Bulloch.
Jedi Mickey leads R2-MK through the crowd (below, left) and they meet with a young park guest (below, right). R2-MK is really cool!
Jedi Mickey strikes a pose with R2-MK (below, left) and they leave through the crowd (below, right). The name R2-MK is on the back of the black ears that he sports on his dome!
Video #3 – R2-MK and Jedi Mickey Meet and Greet Star Wars Weekends 5/21/10 – he new R2-MK and Jedi Mickey Mouse do a meet and greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekends.
Snig and Oopla again entertain the crowds during the Hyperspace Hoopla (HOOPLA!!! below left and right). The show was very crowded yesterday, it had a lot of people talking about whether it should be moved to a larger venue.
Video #4 – Hyperspace Hoopla, Star Wars Weekends Part 1 of 3 5/21/10 – This is the first part of the Hyperspace Hoopla featuring “Stump The Band” with Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes!
Chewbacca puts on his dancing shoes (below, left) and Princess Leia vamps it up while the other Star Wars female characters look on (below, right).
Queen Amidala takes a turn in fronting the group (below, left) and Darth Vader (below, right) donned a glitter glove – a’la Michael Jackson – to dance to the music of the King of Pop!
Darth Vader (below, right) busts a move, and you can see the glove up close. Chewbacca (below, right) is sad because he lost the dance contest.
Video #5 – Hyperspace Hoopla, Star Wars Weekends Part 2 of 3 5/21/10 – This is the second part of the Hyperspace Hoopla featuring”Dance Off With The Star Wars Stars“!
Imperial Stormtroopers stop by to break up the show (below, left) and bounty hunter Boba Fett gets in a dance number of his own (below, right).
Video #6 – Hyperspace Hoopla, Star Wars Weekends Part 3 of 3 5/21/10 – This is “Finale Mix-Up” of the popular Hyperspace Hoopla at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! This is the first showing of this years version.
