Here are some photos from near the end of the Walt Disney World Marathon 2010! Props to everyone who ran this endurance race, especially in the colder weather – it’s been literally freezing in Orlando, we even had light snow and sleet! It didn’t stop friends and family from cheering the runners on (below left and right).
Runners went past the Epcot Christmas tree (below, left). Santa even made an appearance in his after-Christmas athletic wear! (below, right)
The yellow cones were put up to separate guests in Epcot from the athletes (below, left). The last stretch before the end of the race had the runners heading towards Spaceship Earth before being diverted to the parking lot (below, right).
Donald and Minnie wait anxiously at the Finish Line (below, left). Goofy, Donald, Minnie and Mickey greeted the runners until the end (below, right).
We headed into the Magic Kingdom after the Marathon, just in time to see the Muppets on Main Street again (click HERE for photos and full video of this cool new pre-parade addition)! Miss Piggy and Kermit were heading in the opposite direction than we saw the other day (below left and right).
The Cinderella Castle moat water is a little low, but not yet drained. Work was supposed to start on January 3rd to rehab the front of the castle and is expected to be complete by March 25 2010 (below left and right).
The Crystal Palace rehab is ongoing (below, right) and “The Disney Gardener” left a little note about the visit from Jack Frost (below, right).
The small boats at the Jungle Cruise area are under rehab (below left and right).
Back at Epcot in front of Mission Space, you can see the covering on the plants (below, left). There is also fountain work being done in front of Test Track (below, right).
The kids fountain area in the breezeway was roped off (below, left) and a Siemens Smart Chopper is in Innoventions for a couple of more weeks as part of a traveling exhibit (it’s been there for 3 weeks now) (below, right).
