Hi everyone!
It was a chilly morning when the parade taping started (7am was when I needed to be there, and it must have been in the low 50’s). Camera’s were being set up (below, left) and thousands of guests filled Main Street USA to learn their dance moves for the opening Jonas Brothers number! (below, right).
Cinderella Castle was set for the Jonas Brothers (below, left) who started playing from the castle stage (below, right) before walking to the hub stage for the rest of their song.
Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas arrived around 10am, and went through many takes (below, left), including some that added pyrotechnics for the show (below, right).
The brothers sang the song “Summertime Anthem” (below, left), while all of us extras were given handkerchiefs to wave around while dancing (below, right). I will probably still remember the routine while watching on Christmas morning after repeating it numerous times in rehearsal and during all the takes that were needed 🙂
Nick and Joe Jonas work their way through the crowd on the way back from a take (below, left) and wave to the camera for a Billboard shot (below, right). The Billboard shot is the photo that will make the opening credits.
After the Jonas Brothers, the crowd went to Main Street to wait for the parade segments that were to be shot. The Princess float included Belle, Cinderella, Tiana (below, left) and Ariel (below, right). They were flanked by little girls dressed up as princesses by the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
Gymnasts (left) and a high school marching band (right) were part of the program.
A giant, inflatable gingerbread man floats down the street (below, left) while Kelly Ripa gets ready to host another portion of the show (below, right).
There were just a few parts of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade included, like the dancing Reindeer (below, left) and Santa Claus (below, right).
Suzy from Cinderella was on the “Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It!” float (below, left) while the Club Penguin float moves down the street (below, right).
Steve Rushton sings “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” (below left and right) from the new film “Santa Buddies“.
Bonus Video – Steve Rushton Sings “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, Disney Parks Christmas Parade 2009 – This was from the Disney Parks Christmas Parade taping, 2009. The video was shot on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom.
Following the taping, Billy Flanagan and the director get some last shots of the crowd cheering (below, left). The train station was a great place to see everything after the filming ended (below, right). It was a tiring experience but also a lot of fun and I look forward to doing it again next year!
