Walt Disney World: Vintage Photo Memories – Disney’s Grand Floridian Beach Resort Under Construction

Hi everyone!

There has been quite a lot of interest lately in my vintage Walt Disney World photos (I have thousands dating back to the 70’s!), and am sharing a few today. Not everyone remembers that when Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa opened in June of 1988, it was called the Disney’s Grand Floridian Beach Resort (below). The exterior was was based on the Hotel del Coronado in California.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Royal Asante Presidential Suite Tour, Walt Disney World – Photos & Video

Hi everyone!

We had the opportunity to tour the amazing Royal Asante Presidential Suite at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (below, left). The suite is over 2000 square feet – it seems even larger, and has so much detail in every room. The living room is spacious, with couches and chairs in a circle (below, right), and a fireplace just steps away.

Mater Debuts as Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival Cars 2 Topiary – Mr. & Mrs Easter Bunny Greet Guests at The Magic Kingdom – Photos & Video

Hi everyone!

Today was a gorgeous day at Walt Disney World! We went to Epcot to see if Mater was there (we had heard he was), and we found not only Mater, but a new sand sculpture to share with our readers. Then we headed over to the Magic Kingdom, where we found the Easter Bunny and Mrs Bunny (more on that below)!

Magic Kingdom Update: Angelica from Pirates of the Caribbean 4 New Meet & Greet, Haunted Mansion Accessibility Changes, Main Street USA – Photos & Video

Hi everyone!

Pirate Angelica from the upcoming film Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is now making a splash in Adventureland! She is not only featured on the Tortuga Tavern sign (below, left), but now greeting guests at the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction (below, right). She was previously greeting guests at the Adventureland Veranda while her new permanent location was being readied (we have video of my Angelica interview HERE).

Downtown Disney Update: Future Hyperion Wharf, Pleasure Island, Marketplace – Photos & Video

Hi everyone!

We walked the length of Downtown Disney yesterday to see what was new – and it turns out that plenty is! Pleasure Island will soon become Hyperion Wharf (below, left), and there is a small amount of noticeable progress in that direction (below, right). We have video showing the former nightclubs being torn down HERE.

New Haunted Mansion Hitchhiking Ghosts Animated Mirror Effects plus Bonus: Brides Ring & More – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

We paid a visit to the Haunted Mansion today (below, left) as soon as we heard that the new Hitchhiking Ghosts mirror effect was working! Walking through the queue to check out the new tombstone that had been added about a week ago, we were also pointed to another new addition. In reference to the “Bride’s Ring” that used to be in the pavement near the front of the queue (not really the Bride’s Ring, but everyone liked to say it), there is now really a ring – engagement ring – in the pavement of the interactive queue.

Buy it Now – Jeff Lange Remembers: Adventureland Classics

Jeff Lange takes you on a trip back in time to experience classic Walt Disney World “Adventureland” attractions. This fourth volume in the series features the following:

Adventureland Tour (1992-1997)

Take a walk through Adventureland as it was in the 1990’s! View a live parrot in front of the Swiss Family Treehouse. Experience the original layout before The Magic Carpets of Aladdin attraction was added and enjoy an up-close and personal view of the drumming Tiki statues! The Tropical Serenade beckons, concluding with a brief look at Caribbean Plaza!

Jungle Cruise (1993)

Drift through the original foliage canopy into the misty rainforest, setting the atmosphere as your boat heads deeper into the jungle. This version of the Jungle Cruise features the original Jungle boats, the familiar Schweitzer Falls, a flooded Cambodian temple and as always – the backside of water! The Jungle Cruise in 1993 had not yet added the downed airplane but includes all of your favorite classic scenes. Your ride ends with Chief Nami, “Head Salesman of the Jungle” offering “three of his heads for one of yours”!

Enchanted Tiki Birds Tropical Serenade (1992)

Clyde and Claude, a pair of storytelling birds, welcome you to this charming attraction that delighted audiences from opening day. “Have a great show, a real Tropical Serenade!” we hear at the end of their banter, and the doors magically open to guide us into the Sunshine Pavilion. You’ll be transported to a tropical paradise where birds sing while telling lighthearted jokes on a variety of set pieces, and even the flowers join in! The Tiki gods usher in a rain storm with lightning and thunder that shakes the walls, before calm is restored. And the last magic trick before you leave? “Everybody face the door, we’re going to make you all disappear!” Includes brief scenes of the Sunshine Tree Terrace and Tiki Tropic Shop.

Pirates of the Caribbean (1992)

Immerse yourself in the Walt Disney World adaptation of the last attraction that was personally overseen by Walt Disney. This is the original opening day version of the beloved attraction, recorded before changes were made to the chase scene and pooped pirate. Your adventure starts at the Pirates of the Caribbean exterior, where the Barker Bird sets up the story of the ride (you’ll experience the full narration). Continue through the queue and load areas, and sail past all of your favorite ride scenes as originally presented!

Pirates of the Caribbean (1997)

“A parrot’s life for me!” squawks the Barker Bird outside of this updated version of the classic Disney attraction. This ride-through showcases the changes that were made to the ride in 1997, including the chase scene where women now chase the pirates. The Treasure Room scene near the end of the ride (unique to Florida) features two guards tied to chairs as pirates engage in horseplay – and gunplay – celebrating their conquest. Includes the queue, exit ramp and a brief look at the House of Treasure!

Relive these Adventureland Classics year after year or experience the magic for the first time by purchasing a copy of “Jeff Lange Remembers Adventureland Classics”.
