mickey-patrioticLAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.Guests celebrating the Fourth of July at Walt Disney World Resort will have a choice of fireworks shows plus other patriotic treats – including appearances by “Benjamin Franklin” and “Betsy Ross.” The spirit of the Fourth of July is up in the air after dark, and three Disney parks will be making a bang, with Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios presenting special pyrotechnics and Epcot adding a patriotic “tag” to its famous “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” spectacular.

Here’s what’s in store on July 4 (entertainment and park hours are subject to change without notice):

Magic Kingdom – “Celebrate America Fireworks” will fill the sky at 9 p.m.  After the fireworks, guests can enjoy Disney’s “Main Street Electrical Parade” of lights, music and magic at 10 p.m. and midnight. Park hours are 8 a.m.-1 a.m.

Disney’s Hollywood StudiosSpecial fireworks set to a rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack will be presented at 9:50 p.m., providing guests with a bonus nighttime entertainment extravaganza to complement “Fantasmic!” (which will be at 9 and 10:30 p.m.). Park hours are 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

Epcot “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth,” which features dazzling special effects, colorful lasers, brilliant fireworks and fiery torches all choreographed to a musical score, becomes even more dynamic on July 4 as the normal show is supplemented with a patriotic finale. The performance begins at 10 p.m.  Earlier in the day, guests will be treated to the Voices of Liberty 4th of July Concert – featuring an expanded cast of singers plus the Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corps and Disney characters – at 12:30, 1:45 and 3 p.m. on the America Gardens Theatre stage.  In addition, Betsy Ross will be engaging guests inside The American Adventure with storytelling, while Ben Franklin will be making appearances on the promenade near the attraction. Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Orlando Int’l Airport, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot Hacienda de San Angel, DVD Production Update

Hi everyone!

We had a week away to spend time with family and friends, it was a nice break but now it’s time to get back to Disney! But first, we stopped by the Universal Studios store as we went through Orlando International Airport on Friday night. The display for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was huge (below, left) and there was plenty of merchandise for those who may not be able to make it to the park right now (below, right).

Summer Nightastic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Re-Imagined, Rock ‘N’ Glow Dance Party – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

Summer Nightastic is in full swing, we already have photos and video from the Main Street Electrical Parade and the Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Show! We went to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror on Sunday night to see what was new – and after we rode, we were told it wasn’t quite finished. It is finished now, and it includes a new drop sequence for Summer Nightastic, and you’ll see your photo just before you drop and at the end of the ride before the doors open again. There is also some old-time (40’s) music before the drop, and a star field where the 5th dimension normally is. At night, the Hollywood Tower glows green from the shafts (below left and right).

Star Wars Weekends, Week 2: Interactive Talking C-3PO, Guests: Matthew Wood, Lorne Peterson and Tom Kane – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

We were very surprised yesterday at Star Wars Weekends to see an interactive talking C3PO in the park! While waiting for the Hyperspace Hoopla, we heard the crowd get a little louder – we turned around, and C3PO was walking by (below left and right). He is fully interactive, in the way that the Mickey Mouse was in a test at Disneyland.

Star Wars Weekends 2010 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Weekend #1 Recap Plus Toy Story Midway Mania Update – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

This is my second Star Wars Weekends update (read about opening day here), I really enjoyed Sunday even more than Friday – the actors and characters seemed a lot more loose and relaxed. We were able to get there early enough to see the Stormtroopers at the entrance (below, left). The Friday “Legends of the ForceMotorcade had featured the new R2-MK astromech, but that was a one-time event for 2010. Jedi Mickey led the parade as always (below, right).
