Hi everyone!
I’ve had a great time visiting Walt Disney World for my first Christmas as a Florida resident! There is so much to see and do, I’ve not been able to see everything – but I’ve tried! I finally was able to see my first (and second) Candlelight Processional for 2009, it was actually very easy to get in the theater without a dinner package. We had great seats both performances! Trumpet players begin the show (below, left) and actor Brian Dennehy fronted the choir, reading the Christmas story from the Bible for several days (below, right).
Brian Dennehy in a close up shot (below, left) and a star sits above the choir, in lieu of the cone that used to be around the neck of a Cast Member (below, right).
Angela Bassett and Courtney Vance were the other narrators I saw (below, left). It was very chilly for their presentation last night (below, right).
Bonus Video #1 – Candlelight Processional, Epcot 2009 Hallelujah Chorus – This is from one of the evenings featuring Brian Dennehy as the celebrity narrator at the American Gardens Theatre.
Epcot added some lights to the trees where the Doves of Peace used to be (below, left) and the fountain music was turned to play the Lights of Winter songs (below, right).
Video #2 – Epcot Fountain, Christmas 2009 with Lights of Winter Music – This is a few minutes of Epcot’s Fountain of Nations now featuring dancing waters to the Lights of Winter music.
Tutto Italia at Epcot had a beautiful gingerbread display that looked like an Italian village (below left and right).
Many resorts had character greetings, with the characters dressed in holiday splendor. Mickey and Minnie visited the Polynesian Resort (below, left) and Chip and Dale were part of the fun at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House (below, right).
The Polynesian Resort had a gingerbread display contest. Cast Members created incredible concoctions for guests to vote on – my favorite was the UP balloon that went in the air, pulled by Carl (below left and right).
Both Kidani Village and the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House had lovely gingerbread creations, including one by Cast Member Sessler at Kidani (below, left) and an incredible and unique Jungle Cruise display at Jambo House (below, right).
The Grand Floridian was empty when we walked through on Christmas night (below, left). Fort Wilderness was festive as always for the holidays, and one display by a camper included handmade characters including Goofy (below, right).
Video #3 – Fort Wilderness Sleigh Ride, Walt Disney World 2009 – This is a short clip of the sleigh ride – the horse ended up having to stop for traffic, but you can see the beautiful decorations put up by the campers at the resort!
Christmas night, the sign at the Magic Kingdom sat at 000 (below, left). We were told that it is turned each morning when up for the holidays. The Adventureland Veranda was serving carved meats (below, right).
Two photos inside the AdventurelandVeranda (below left and right) show what the inside looks like now. It is open another few days for guests before closing again.
At Disney’s Coronado Springs, a beautiful tree sits in the registration area (below, left). Instead of gingerbread displays, Cast Members made snowmen artwork. Jack Skellington was my favorite (below, right).
The giant wreath at the Contemporary during the day (below, left) is still festive! We’ve also bought a few of the gingerbread items at the Contemporary Resort, which went down in price by nearly half (below, right).
