Summer Nightastic Preview, Main Street Electrical Parade Returns and Summer Nightastic Fireworks Show Premiere – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

We had such a great time last night as the Main Street Electrical Parade returned to the Magic Kingdom! We saw this version at Disney’s California Adventure last year (see video HERE) where it was called “Disney’s Electrical Parade“, but it’s not the same as seeing it where I first did as a child in 1977. The Tinker Bell float (below, left) was new for last year, with 25,000 points of light. Mickey’s train announces the name of the parade (below, right), though it wasn’t changed for Summer Nightastic to the Main Street Electrical Parade moniker.

Goofy waves from the train (below, left) and the Disney’s Electrical Parade name flashes from Mickey’s Drum (below, right).

Here come the mushrooms (below, left) as a beautiful butterfly flaps it’s wings slowly. Alice in Wonderland (below, right) sits atop the next one, the Cheshire Cat is also part of this float.

A snail (below, left) and centipede (below, right) round out the Alice in Wonderland float series.

Cinderella (below, left) waves from her carriage as a swirl of light shimmers through her float. That was one of the new effects for the floats last year, it’s really beautiful! Royal court dancers (below, right) follow her.

The Pirate ship from Peter Pan (below, left) casts smoke into the air while Smee (below, right) rows behind it.

Dopey leads the Mine Train (below, left) and The Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Diamond Mine float (below, right) had returned to Disney’s Electrical Parade last year after 13 years with the enhanced lighting effects.

Bashful holds his miners equipment (below, left) and Pinocchio’s Pleasure Island float also came back to the parade last year after 13 years away (below, right).

Cigars and cupcake (below, left) represent Pleasure Island from the story of Pinocchio and the Funhouse Face float (below, right) is also part of the float series.

Pete and his dragon (below, left) tower over the crowd. The smoke effects from Elliot’s nose were not working at either parade on June 5th. The final float is “To Honor America“, a patriotic salute to our nation.

It was a beautiful sight to see one of my favorite parades glowing down Main Street USA (below left and right) and I look forward to visiting the Magic Kingdom often this summer!

Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Show – Premiere Showing

Another element of the Summer Nightastic lineup also premiered last night, The “Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Show“. Disney describes it as: “This new fireworks spectacular illuminates the darkness with vibrant colors and breathtaking Disney magic”. The now show is very similar to the Magic, Music and Mayhem fireworks formerly shown at the Pirate and Princess Parties.

The soundtrack has been updated to mention Summer Nightastic and a few scenes were changed. I really like the addition of the perimeter fireworks all summer and look forward to experiencing them from various places around the Magic Kingdom!
