Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground had it’s Halloween golf cart parade yesterday, with a lot of unique entries as always! Guests decorate their golf carts, winning prizes for: Best Overall, Best Disney Themed, Most Unique and Most Creative! We enjoyed the Tow Mater golf cart, a new entry this year (below, left), and a pirate ship (below, right).
Many of the drivers and passengers dressed up in their Halloween best or scariest (below, left). And each year, at least one entry just blows us away. This year, it was this Up house that took 2 months to build (below, right). Grissel Sierra created it, and her family – Joseph, Joey and Nicky – all were part of the golf cart parade. They did win a prize for best overall!
There were a lot of other creative carts, I wish we could show them all! Cruella DeVil was inside this golf cart (below, left), and there was even a dog catcher on the back! And check out these scary props on the top of another cart (below, right).

Carl & Ellie’s mailbox sits in front of the house (below, left and right). Nearly the whole house is made of cardboard, with PVC to hold it together. The detailing in it is incredible!
Video #2 – Disney’s Fort Wilderness Halloween Golf Cart Parade 2012 Pixar “Up” House Best Overall Winner w/Carl – This is a detailed look at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Halloween Golf Cart Parade 2012 Best Overall Winner based on the Disney/Pixar “UP” House! This beautiful house was created by Grissel Sierra. Joseph Sierra plays Carl, and Joey and Nicky Sierra also play a part in the display. The UP house is created mostly with cardboard, with PVC to hold it together and took 2 months. Congratulations! It’s quite impressive, isn’t it? All of the golf cart designs are created by campsite guests. This house was made even more complete by adding Carl and Russell.
We had dinner at Trails End, and it’s been a couple of years since we’d been there for an evening meal (below, left). The restaurant was actually really busy when we arrived, but emptied out as guests headed to the parks (below, right). The food was better than we ever remember it, with a wider variety for dinner – but not a higher price tag. The service was excellent too.
I tried to have a little of everything, but there was too many food choices! My first plate consisted of peel and eat shrimp, carved beef, and salad (below, left). Their world-famous fried chicken is there as always too! Denise didn’t end up even getting to the chicken – she saw baked AND mashed potatoes and couldn’t decide between the two. So she had both, along with some vegetables and beef (below, right). We each had cornbread too, which was fantastic. And instead of brownies, a red velvet cake is now served alongside cobbler and cookies. We highly recommend Trails End for dinner!
It is our tradition to visit the campsites each year around and on Halloween. Our favorite campsite was also the winner of best overall (below, left), which offered an amazing array of handmade decorations! The RV was themedas a pirate ship, with skeletons and many other props (below, right).
Harry & Kathy Kunkle (below, left) from Cherryville, PA, were the winners. They have spent a lot of time on all of the decorations, and it really shows! Here is one more view (below, right) of this amazing campsite.
Video #3 – Fort Wilderness Halloween Site Decoration 2012 Winner, Walt Disney World – Pirate Themed – Harry & Kathy Kunkle from Cherryville, PA were the winners of the Fort Wilderness campsite contest! Much of what you’ll see in this video is handmade, including the spider webs! Kathy has a lot of talent for artwork, and she also won a prize in the pumpkin decorating contest the night before.
