We visited Disney’s Art of Animation Resort today, to photograph the new Lion King section. This area opens to the public officially on Friday! Rafiki (below, left) stands at the beginning to the pathway which leads guests through the lush landscaping. Mufasa (below, right) is on the opposite side, looking regal as always. Mufasa stands on Pride Rock on this end of the Lion King section. Simba, Pumba and Timon walk across a log that is well above guests (below, right). The landscaping in this area is truly incredible! This area is the main entrance to the resorts interior hallways and rooms.
We had another great view of Timon, Pumba and Simba from one of the resort windows. We were given a brief tour and shown a room from a manager we had been talking too. It was a nice and unexpected surprise. (below, left). Simba grins wide (below, right), enjoying life in the jungle!
Not far away, the Elephant Graveyard beckons (below, left). There is a sign letting guests know to not climb on anything. It is supposed to be a playground, but there isn’t too much to do here – and currently no plans for that to change. Several hyenas look down on guests, including Banzai (below, right).
Ed (below, right), doesn’t look like he’ll do much harm! We’d originally seen this piece (below, right) in the parking lot of Disney’s Art of Animation a number of months ago, before it was brought into this area. There is a small tunnel that goes through the rock and bones.
Zazu (below, right) stands on a rock at the end of the pathway. Scar (below, right) is on the opposite side, looking as villainous as ever! His green eyes let everyone know to steer clear.
On the artists sketchbook page, Timon and Pumba look to be in a celebratory mood (below, left). Simba (below, right) just can’t wait to be king in this Lion King building artwork! Each floor has a different painting. Be sure to keep checking back as we’ll be staying in a Lion King section room for it’s public opening later this week and of course will get full coverage of all the in-room details then!
Video #1 – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Lion King Detailed Tour – Mufasa, Simba, Timon, Pumba, Scar, Zazu – This is a video tour of the Lion King section of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! The video includes all of the characters along the way, including Rafiki, Mufasa, Scar, Simba, Timon, Zazu, and the Elephant Graveyard with the hyenas! We will have a video from a suite in about a week.
We had a great preview today of the Little Mermaid section (below, left). Ariel seems to be swimming as fish look down on her (below, right), still a mermaid. This looks to be a highly detailed and colorful section of the resort!
King Triton looks on at his daughter (below, left), as she and Flounder stay partially under wraps (below, right). This area of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will hold the only standard Value rooms in the resort.
Here is a longer shot of King Triton (below, left), and you can see a fork in the foreground (for Ariel to brush her hair). We were able to see many details, including the pool, a jewelry chest, and more. Ursula (below, right) is also visible here in the Little Mermaid courtyard.
