Radiator Springs at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (below, left) is testing with Cast Members for a few days, we didn’t know that when we stopped by to have lunch! We spent a few hours taking photos and video of the newly opened area (official opening is June 18th), and we were very impressed with all the details we found.
Route 66 (below, left) will take you anywhere you need to go within Radiator Springs! There are quite a few photo opportunities with characters from the film, including Flo (below, right). Video #1 – Radiator Springs Detailed Tour, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort CARS Section – Lighning McQueen – This is a detailed look at the Cars section of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, including the Cozy Cone Pool, your favorite cars including Lightning McQueen and Mater, and many of the details you’ll find! We love the “Save 2D Animation” bumper sticker on Fillmore. This new section of the resort is set to open June 18th, 2012
Luigi (below, left) and Guido (below, right) are found in front of one of the three buildings in the Cars section, this one themed to Luigi’s Della Tires.
Across the way, another building is themed to Tow Mater (below, left). Mater is in front of the building (below, right) and seemed to be one of the most popular vehicles with guests yesterday! The “cars” are built solidly, they aren’t real vehicles. We really like all the theming in the Cars area!

You can get photos with Mater and all the cars any time and enjoy all the special Pixar references to be found here.
There is a rotating sign for the Cozy Cone Motel in front of the building that leads to the Cozy Cone pool (below, left). In the “Office” windows, postcards are shown for Radiator Springs. We hope they eventually reproduce and sell them – they’d make quite the unique souvenirs!
Video #3 – Cozy Cone Motel Details, Radiator Springs CARS Area, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – Disney World – This is the Cozy Cone Motel at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, which leads into the pool. There are many details here, including cool Radiator Springs postcards (we hope they eventually sell similar ones!)
The Cozy Cone Pool is in the middle of the three buildings, with a fence surrounding it (below, left). It is much smaller than the Big Blue pool, but we are looking forward to testing it out next week! And look at this great Cozy Cone Pool Rules sign (below, right).
One of our favorite features of this new pool are the cones that act like cabanas (below, left). They don’t cost anything extra (we were told they wouldn’t because it’s a value resort, hopefully that is the case!) Arrive early, these will be very popular! Video #4 – Cozy Cone Pool at Radiator Springs Pixar CARS Area of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney World – This is the Cozy Cone Pool in the soon to open Radiator Springs Cars section of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – set to open June 18th, 2012. The new pool features free Cone cabanas (first come first served) and also includes laundry facilities.
When we used to take photos from Disney’s Pop Century Resort every couple of weeks, we thought this building directly below would be a pool bathroom/laundry building. It isn’t. Sarge’s Surplus Hut (below, left) is for pool supplies, not for guest use. Sarge (below, right) sits right outside. Make sure you have plenty of photos left in your camera, we aren’t done yet!
The third resort building in the Cars section is themed to the “Wheel Well Hotel” (below, left). Three gas pumps sit outside, along with Sally (below, left) and Lightning McQueen (below, right). Even though it’s the furthest in, you’ll still find it a 5 minute or less walk to Animation Hall.

I was able to pose with with Fillmore (below, left), the only car with a tag in the front (it’s a goatee!) Fillmore has a lot of fun bumper stickers! Our favorite? “Save 2D Animation.” (below, right)

There is realistic looking artwork on each wall, each floor of the three buildings. It’s worth seeing each one! Lightning McQueen (below, left) is on this wall. Sally and Lightning (below, right) are outside on one of the animator pads as well. This one is a little out of the way, but worth finding! We expect the Cars section to be the most popular of the family suites, it’s probably going to be our favorite.
