Yesterday we went to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort (below, left) to see the beautiful Easter Egg Display in the lobby (below, right). This is the first year of the lobby display, though the decorated eggs have been placed in restaurants during the Easter holiday for the last 15 years. Each egg is hollow milk chocolate, weighing 9 – 12 pounds and is 16 – 20 inches tall!
There are quite a few chocolate sculpted rabbits, with a base of brightly colored chocolate shavings (below, left). This chick is hatching out of it’s egg, all ready to go to Walt Disney World (below, right).
Rapunzel and Maximus (we forgot his name in the video) share a moment on this highly detailed egg (below, left)! Crush and Squirt are shown gliding through the water in the Finding Nemo egg (below, right). The opposite side of the Tangled egg features Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, which we’ll show below.
Video #1 – Disney’s Grand Floridian Easter Egg Display 2012 With Commentary, Disney World – Rapunzel, Duffy – This is the beautiful Easter Egg Display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort with our commentary! Highlights include Eggs Featuring Rapunzel, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Little Mermaid and much more!
This lush piece of art on the egg is unfamiliar to us (below, left). We don’t know if it’s orginal artwork, or based on something else. Snow White picks flowers as her prince gallops by (below, right). On the flip side of this egg – which you’ll see in the above video – is the Seven Dwarfs! The base also has characters from the film.
Ariel sits on a rock as Eric, Flounder, Ursula, Scuttle, King Triton and other Little Mermaid characters surround her (below, left). The opposite side of the egg shows Ariel and Eric in the rowboat. Rapunzel (below, right) helps Flynn Rider up to her balcony. Gorgeous!
The eggs span quite a bit of the width of the lobby (below, left). A bunny sits in chocolate candy shavings (below, right) near the Garden View Tea Room, which includes two more eggs as well.
Spring flowers are displayed inside the lobby (below, left), and outside the back of the resort (below, right). We were impressed by the colorful arrangment in the grass! To help get you in the mood for Easter, check out this video below from last years Happy Easter Pre-Parade at the Magic Kingdom!
Video #2 – Happy Easter Parade Pre-Parade 2011 Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World – Two Locations – This is the Easter Pre-Parade at the Magic Kingdom 2011, shot from two locations! Features Chicken Little, Daisy Duck, The White Rabbit, Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny and more.
We next went to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and took some photos of Fantasyland from the roof. The Avengers monorail passed us by as we were there – many times – we have photos and video of it in our last update. Beast’s Castle (below, right) looks larger and more imposing than it really is.
The work of the day seemed to be on each roof, including at Maurice’s Cottage (below, left), along with Gaston’s Tavern and Bonjour Village Gifts (below, right).

The Center Street refurbishment is now complete, and everything looks fresh (below, left). The brick work looks more detailed (below, right), it will be nice to have the street fully open again!
Gaston’s Tavern (below, left) can be seen above the wall in Fantasyland. Snow is being added to Prince Eric’s castle (below, right).
Work has progressed on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, with it going vertical (below, left). Castle walls can be seen behind the construction wall (below, right).
Video #4 – Fantasyland Construction Details 4/5/12 Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Wall, Belle’s Cottage, Eric’s Castle – We’ve shown you Fantasyland from the Contemporary Resort roof, now here it is from a closer view! Snow is being added to Eric’s Castle, and roof work is the main draw here – and the show building walls for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
A sea of strollers were parked in Fantasyland near it’s a small world, with guests funneling their way during a very busy day (below, left). The former Fantasyland Skyway Station (below, right) is cleared, and you can even see the Liberty Belle Riverboat over the fence beyond it’s a small world (below, right).
Here is another view of the clearing (below, left), as well as the Pet Cemetary at the Haunted Mansion (below, right). This will eventually be the new path to Liberty Square to make room for the upcoming Peter Pan’s Flight interactive queue.
Video #5 – Fantasyland Former Skyway Station Area Construction 4/5/12 Cleared to Mansion Pet Cemetary – A look at the Fantasyland former Skyway station area construction on 4/5/12. This will eventually be the new path to Liberty Square to make room for the upcoming Peter Pan’s Flight interactive queue. You can see major clearing has been done especially by the Haunted Mansion pet cemetery.
The water tower and utility buildings that were themed to Mickey’s Toontown Fair (below, left) are now painted to match the Fantasyland Train Station (below, right).
Video #6 – New Fantasyland Storybook Circus Train Station Water Tower Theming 4/5/12 Walt Disney World Railroad – The water tower area has been re-themed in Storybook Circus at Walt Disney World! You’ll first see what it looked like until a few days ago (still themed for Mickey’s Toontown Fair) then morph into the new look plus some added details.
New decorative pillows found at the Emporium include a Haunted Mansion pillow (below, left – with both sides shown) and a FASTPASS pillow (below, right) as well os other cool designs. Some of this may be coming home with us soon!
