We started out yesterday with a parade at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and then ended it at the Magic Kingdom (below, left) to meet with friends. Dumbo the Flying Elephant’s new spinner was continously testing while we were in Fantasyland, with a Storybook Circus sign for “The Barnstormer” (below, right).
The sign shows Goofy and a small plane very reminicent of the original Barnstormer from Mickey’s Toontown Fair (below, left). The painted Dumbo queue is seen here (below, right) with Goofy’s hands on the roller coaster behind it (below, right).
Dumbo is gearing up for a March opening (below, left) and looks much more colorful than we’ve seen previously! A crane (below, right) sits above Fantasyland.

Whimsical chimneys sit atop Maurice’s cottage (below, left). A large ladder stands in the foreground of Beast’s Castle (below, right).
This area of Fantasyland (below, left) is not due to open until later this year. Turrets (below, right) are part of the Little Mermaid ride facade.
The Little Mermaid attraction exterior (below, left) hasn’t changed as much since our last visit. What has changed is that the castle walls are now more visible (below, right), instead of just having a view from the Pinocchio’s bathroom area.

Earlier in the day, we celebrated Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter (below, left). Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen led the parade in a horse-drawn carriage (below, right).
Princess Tiana waves to our camera (below, left). There were many different Cast Member floats (Pargo golf carts), all celebrating the theme of Disney Heritage Through the Decades. We found the carts overall to be quite elaborate, including this Pirates of the Caribbean cart (below, right). The carts were judged in a number of categories before the parade started.
Bert from Mary Poppins (below, left) passes by, with a Disney’s Hollywood Studios cart celebrating The Great Movie Ride in view (below, left). The “it’s a small world” float featured Duffy bears from around the world.
A float dedicated to Mickey’s Toontown Fair won a ribbon (below, left), and featured characters such as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Donald Duck. Hands from inside the cart held up the 25th Anniversary Castle Cake (below, right).
Cast Members from the Haunted Mansion float wave and look frightful (below, left). The Miss Tilly from Typhoon Lagoon sits atop this water park float (below, right). This parade was a huge treat, we were glad to have seen it! The only thing we missed out on was beignets from Port Orleans French Quarter, we were running late for the Magic Kingdom. Next time! We did receive piles of beads and some candy – which we were happy to share with friends!
