This week we chose a different location for most of our Magic Kingdom photos and video, Disney’s Contemporary Resort. We went to the roof to get a great view of the Magic Kingdom (below, left). Beast’s Castle looks much smaller from a distance (below, right).
Belle’s Cottage rises above the trees (below, left). There is a covering around Beast’s Castle (below, left), which is also seen from within Fantasyland.
This is a view we’ve not seen before (below, left). Bonjour Village Gifts is in the left hand side of the picture. And a part of the Little Mermaid building is visible (below, right).
We had a great view of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (below, left) and Spaceship Earth as seen from the opposite side of the Contemporary Resort (below, right).
Video #1 – Fantasyland Construction from Contemporary Roof, Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World Views 8/6/11 – This is the view of Fantasyland from the roof of the Contemporary Resort! You can see Beast’s Castle, The Little Mermaid Building, Bonjour Village Gifts, and more from this location (this is with a 35x optical zoom lens). You can see footage also of the Polynesian Resort and more.
Inside the Contemporary Resort, Mary Blair’s mural stands tall (below, left). Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily created some merchandise for the 40th anniversary of Walt Disney World that includes a beautiful vase based on the mural. We made sure to get a photo of the famous five legged goat (below, right).
Disneyland introduced some beautiful merchandise based on it’s a small world, and now the merchandise has made it’s way to Walt Disney World. Dinnerware (below, left) and colorful mugs (below, right) are among the items for sale.
Kevin & Jody’s merchandise is showing up around Walt Disney World property. The items include dinnerware, metal artwork and the aforementioned vase (below, left) and this ceramic cup that is similar to the one they created for Disneyland last year (below, right).
Video #2 – Walt Disney World 40th Collection Kevin Kidney Jody Daily – Small World Disneyland Collection – Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily’s 40th anniversary merchandise is now at Walt Disney World! Some of the Disneyland Small World items have also made it here. You can see other merchandise also around the Animation Gallery.
At the Magic Kingdom, the facade in front of one train station entrance includes a “Let the Memories Begin” “banner”. In Adventureland, Bwana Bob’s now includes Tinker Bell and Disney Fairy merchandise due to the Tinker Bell’s Magical Nook meet & greet (below, right).
Work was going on at the soon-to-open Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room (below left and right), and it was the first time we’d seen the new sign!
Video #3 – Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room Pre-Opening Update – New Sign 8/6/11 Magic Kingdom Disney World – This is the new sign for Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room! The official plan is an August 15th re-opening.
Our next stop was at Epcot where we paid a visit to the new Kabuki Cafe to pick up a Kaki-gori (below, left). The old cart closed to make way for the new one, which is a permanent stand. There are two pieces of artwork on top of the building (below, right).
A cast member puts the cup to the machine, which dispenses a ball of ice (below, left). The ice is then flavored with one of several syrup choices, or a rainbow of all three (below, right). The Kaki-gori tastes the same!
Video #4 – Epcot Japan Pavilion New Kabuki Cafe Kaki-gori Demo 8/5/11 Walt Disney World – The old Kaki-gori stand was recently updated to a permanent building, and the offerings were expanded to include ice cream, smoothies, and a couple of snacks. The Kaki-gori tastes the same!
