Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival 2010 Latest Preparations, Holiday Inn Re-Opens, Fort Wilderness Rehab and Four Seasons Construction

Hi everyone!

Epcot is full steam ahead with preparations for it’s International Flower and Garden Festival. The movie “Oceans” (below, left) by DisneyNature is represented just as the film “Earth” was last year. Keep checking back for what Disney has in store for the Ocean’s display! Mickey and Minnie Mouse are now part of two topiaries, one being at the America Adventure Pavilion, and this one at the entrance to World Showcase (below, right).

Mickey (below, left) holds a pitchfork while Minnie (below, right) stands beside him.

Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen from the Princess and the Frog (below, left) are part of a cardboard cutout and floral display near Pixie Hollow.  We had another cold front come through, and the butterfly topiaries were covered for protection (below, right).

The shop in China is progressing upward (below, left) and Bambi, Thumper and Flower are now residing in Canada (below, right).

The Bromeliad Dragon has joined the Zodiac displays in China (below, left) and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are in Germany (below, right).

Lumiere, Chip, Mrs. Potts and Cogsworth are displayed in France (below, left) along with Belle and her Beast (below, right).

Around the corner and heading towards the International Gateway, Aurora and Prince Phillip dance at sunset (below, left) and Snow White and Prince Charming cut a rug with Morocco in the background (below, right).

We also stopped at the newly remodeled Holiday Inn at Downtown Disney (below left and right). This resort hotel has been closed for a couple of years and opened two weeks ago.

The lobby (below left and right) has been fully renovated, along with the rooms.

Heading over to Fort Wilderness, many of the trees are being cleared due to vines and such that are affecting them.  It sounds like an extensive project (below, left). A campsite had a great Mardi Gras theme, and you can see Mickey with a mask on (below, right).

Some of the Fort Wilderness cabins are having their roofs replaced (below left and right). We had an interesting talk with a security guard about the different animals he’s seen at Fort Wilderness –  from bobcats to feral pigs and turkeys. Of course, the most likely animal sightings are deer, rabbits, armadillos and a variety of birds!

The Four Seasons is moving along (below, left) and we had lunch at the Sandtrap Grill and took photos of the construction wall from there (below, right). The Sand Trap will be gone once the Four Seasons takes it over – or at least renamed.

We walked a little bit on the path around the golf course (below, left). After our lunch, we passed by the Best Friends Pet Care construction (below, right).
