Halloween Decorations at The Magic Kingdom, Best Friends Pet Resort Opening Day and Tour – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

We went to the Magic Kingdom yesterday and were hoping to see the a fully decorated park – and we weren’t disappointed! The front of the Main Street Railroad Station had it’s usual Halloween decorations (below, left), and the Mayor of Main Street USA (below, right) looks dapper in Scarecrow form.

The Dapper Dans (below, left) host the Flag Retreat Ceremony while beautiful, draped banners signify that Halloween will soon be at the Magic Kingdom park! Main Street Philharmagic band members (as well as guests and pumpkins) are reflected in a tuba (below, right).

The Main Street Philharmagic scarecrow’s drum (below, left) allows for viewing through the hole in the center. The Main Street Emporium is well represented with this scarecrow (below, right) dressed as an Emporium cast member.

The Main Street Confectionary has draped banners (below) as well as pumpkins (below, right) as part of it’s decor.

Roy O Disney and Minnie Mouse (below, left) sit in front of a pumpkin patch that is new for this year. The pumpkins are very creative and are lit at night! One of my favorite pumpkins is the snowman in the center.

Bonus Video – Magic Kingdom Halloween Decorations 9/2/10 Walt Disney World – Halloween decorations are now up at the parks! Here is some footage of the front entrance of the Magic Kingdom, as well as Town Square/Main Street USA.

Prior to going to the Magic Kingdom, we’d gone on a private tour of the new Best Friends Pet Care Facility (below, left). I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we were very impressed with what we saw. There were balloons at the front of Best Friends when we arrived (below, right) for the grand opening.

A cat’s face appears from the front of the building (below, left). Inside, a huge dog paw print gives a view on doggy day care (below, right).

Kitty City” has cat condos for the furry felines (below, left and right). When the cages are cleaned, the cats get some playtime outside of the condos.

In the “Pocket Pet” room, a bunny watches us intently (below, left). Best Friends can take a variety of different animals, but no venomous creatures or primates. Reservations are strongly recommended! Kyle the fish (below, right) is a mascot that came from the Magic Kingdom Kennel Club.

A hidden Mickey is on the latch of this cage (below, left). There are some cages that are for dogs that don’t have proof of all the shots needed for boarding – call Best Friends at 877-493-9738 for the requirements needed as well as prices and availability. There are groomers available (below, right), we were told the most requested service is a bath before the pets leave.

Vacation Villas (below, left) start at $53.00 for resort guests and $59.00 for those staying off-property. These are very nice, smaller than the VIP suites but with plenty of room for even the most discerning pet! The dogs are able to watch a flat screen TV, get a turndown biscuit, a potty walk and playgroup (below, right).

This inquisitive terrier (below, left) came over to check us out.  He was watching (as the other Vacation Villa dogs were) “Lady and the Tramp“.

Out back, there is a small dog park with a water feature for dogs to run around in (below, left). Paw prints (below, right) are part of the roofwork.

The piece de’ resistance of the Best Friends experience is the VIP Luxury Suites for dogs. Clocking in at around 220 square feet, they give plenty of room to roam, and come with two potty walks, two playgroups, a flat screen TV, webcam, flat screen tv, and Go Home Fresh bath. This chihuahua (below, left) and bulldog (below, right) were enjoying their VIP experience – and if you’d like your dogs to enjoy it too, you need to book early. Weekends are already booked through the end of the year! Definitely call to reserve your pet into Best Friends before leaving home – well before, if you can.

Space Mountain Full Ride-Through with New Audio and Sound Effects, Best Friends Pet Resort Preview – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

We were able to ride Space Mountain yesterday (below left), there is now music on 60 speakers throughout the ride – it isn’t an onboard ride track. There are also whooshing sounds that happen as you pass certain areas of the ride. We also noticed a spider web projection on the building, I have not seen this for a number of years – the last time being the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party from a couple of years back.

This new attraction artwork featuring “Starry O Phonic” sound (below, left) was posted on the Disney Parks Blog and has left many Disney fans speculating if this art will be for sale or displayed in some form.  I personally find the artwork to be the highlight of the new addition.  The ride had stopped temporarily while we were in the queue (below, right) and we took a few photos.  If we’d just been a couple of minutes earlier we’d have been stuck on the ride!

Video #1 – Space Mountain Full Ride-Through with New Audio 8/30/10 – Space Mountain has music, this is the full ride-through with it (but we have a video just of a speaker outside of the ride where it’s more easily heard). The music is not on the vehicles (Our pre-rehab Space Mountain ride-through can be viewed HERE).

Video #2 – Space Mountain – New Audio Loop Direct From Speaker 8/30/10 - Space Mountain now has music (not on the vehicles, but from speakers), we went to a speaker to record a loop of it.

Video #3 – Wedway People Mover (TTA) at Night, with New Space Mountain Ride Music 8/30/10 – The People Mover at night, and during the Space Mountain portion you can hear the new ride music!

Magic Kingdom Update: Tomorrowland Terrace, Fantasyland Forest and another Rain Parade – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

It’s been a rainy week here in Orlando, but we’ve been able to get out and enjoy the parks a bit even so. At the Magic Kingdom looking towards Cinderella Castle (below, left), we noticed that new metallic railings had been installed – and it might have happened a little while back, but we don’t usually get into this area that normally is roped off for the dessert party. The Tomorrowland Terrace (below, right) is being used for a dinner buffet through the free dining August/September time period.

Magic Kingdom Update: Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade Updated with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen plus Rain Parade, Peoplemover, Fantasyland and More – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

It was a dark and rainy afternoon, but the updated “Celebrate a Dream Come True” parade still was able to continue in an abbreviated form. Roy O Disney and Minnie Mouse (below, left) sit in front of a fierce looking cloud. The parade (below, right), was in “rain parade” mode, meaning that fewer floats were present and some characters walked ahead of the parade.

Celebrating Disneyland’s Birthday at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

I had a great time last night celebrating Disneyland’s 55th Birthday. Normally I celebrate it at Disneyland, but this year we didn’t make it out there for July and spent the evening reliving Disneyland opening day attractions at the Magic Kingdom (below, left). Along the way, we took some photos of the construction projects around the Magic Kingdom. The courtyard area of Exposition Hall is now open and looks great, with new landscaping and brickwork (below, right).
