Disney Pixar BRAVE Display at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Animation Gallery Including Artwork and Maquettes – Photos and Video
Hi everyone!
Denise stopped at Disney’s Hollywood Studios today to pick up a couple of items and also check the Magic of Disney Animation building (below, left) to see if the artwork from Disney/Pixar’s Brave was out yet. The sign on the front of the building said it was still the Pooh/Cars 2 display, but Brave (below, right) was actually inside! She was told the display isn’t finished yet, and the banners in the Courtyard still say Prep and Landing.
The cases that are in the Animation Gallery are smaller than before, we were told so that guests in wheelchairs could see the arwork better (below, left). Maquettes show the Royal Triplets of Harris, Hubert, and Hamish (below, right).
Princess Merida (below, left) stares at a Wisp in artwork that hangs on the wall. This will be Pixar’s first film to have a lead female, and the first Pixar fairytale. One trailer ends with the words “If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?“ The film not only features the fiery redhead, but a cast of characters (below, right) that lend to what appears to be a lot of humor, but also a darker tone than other Pixar films. The artwork shows characters such as Lord MacGuffin, Lord Dingwall, and Lord Macintosh.
Princess Merida is shown as a maquette with her bow and arrow (below, left). She is urged by Queen Elinor (below, left as a maquette) to pursue more “elegant pursuits”.
King Fergus (below, left as a maquette and right in artwork) is Princess Merida’s father. We also have full coverage of past Animation Gallery displays including: Disney/Pixar’s Cars 2, Disney’s Winnie the Pooh, Disney’s Tangled, Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3, Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, Disney/Pixar’s UP and more!
There are two cases currently in the Animation Gallery. One holds the artwork above, and the other is a combination of artwork and photos of Scotland (below, left), showing how the film came to be. An archery scene is depicted in one piece of artwork in this case (below, right).
The televisions that used to show film clips from the movies are gone (below, left). And we were told that the Storyboard Room will no longer hold the artwork from the movies displayed. “Brave“ storyboard drawings are inside the Magic of Disney Animation show, but aren’t referenced currently and they are up at the stage (below, right).
Video #1 – Disney Pixar BRAVE Display, Disney’s Hollywood Studios 2/3/12 Walt Disney World – Disney Pixar’s “Brave” is coming out this summer, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios has artwork and maquettes in the Animation Gallery. We were told that more should be coming, but this is what is available now to see.
Sorcerer Mickey and the broomsticks from Fantasia are normally next to the Brown Derby restaurant inside of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For now, they are located outside of the park (below left and right). Please check back again soom for new additions to the Brave display as they are added.
