I had a great birthday at Walt Disney World! Our yearly tradition is for Denise to take me to Boma: Flavors of Africa for breakfast (below, left). This is one of our favorite dining locations on property for breakfast or dinner! Boma has a gorgeous design to it, and is reminiscent of an African market (below, right). The restaurant was busy when we arrived, but the buffet line was empty by the time we left (below, left). We prefer to arrive around 10:30am and then enjoy the meal as brunch instead of breakfast. The first area we each headed for was the carved meat station (below, right), there was carved turkey and ham. The Boma Mustard always goes very well with the turkey!

Boma is found in the Jambo House building of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort.
Christmas was still evident around the park, but none of the topiaries were still up (below, left). The day was gorgeous and flowers were planted – they should stay there until just before Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival officially begins on March 6th. I always stop for Beverly at Epcot (below, right). Denise won’t touch it!
The kiosk near The American Adventure that sold shirts and other items now sells My Heritage Book (below, left), a personalized book for kids. It is a great fit for World Showcase, and up to 4 heritages are able to be part of the book! Puzzles, coloring books and such are also available for purchase (below, right).
I signed up for the Disney Visa card in October, to be able to get into the Chase Visa lounge at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. It was a great deal for me, I paid $50 and received a $100 Disney gift card! We had been told that we could stop by the Disney’s Visa Photo Place (below, left) to enjoy a meet & greet with a free 5×7 picture included. We finally remembered to visit this location, and we wish we’d done it earlier! Mickey and Pluto were both there (below, right), and it was like a private meet & greet!
There is a lot of nice theming that runs through the design of the meet & greet (below, left). This is the 5×7 that we chose of the three photos that were taken (below, right). A border was included, and I chose the Happy Birthday 2013 border. It’s a very nice perk to the Disney Visa Card! The location has limited hours, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
Video #2 – Mickey Mouse and Pluto Meet us at Disney’s Visa Photo Place, Epcot Meet and Greet – This is a great meet-and-greet if you own the Disney Visa Card! Mickey and Pluto were there the day we stopped by, and we also received a free 5×7 photo. This area is only for Disney Visa Card holders, and the hours are limited – be sure to check out this perk before your next visit!
Splash Mountain is down for rehab, and was drained of water (below, left). Christmas was still in effect, and we learned even on the 9th! It was nice to see Cinderella Castle lit up like ice one last time (below, right).
For dinner, we visited another of our favorite restaurants. The Plaza Restaurant (below, left) is often overlooked by guests, but it’s always had terrific food and service at reasonable prices. It is a very small restaurant, but we were able to book a reservation the night before. We’d never noticed some of the design details before, including this girl as a vase (below, right).
Denise had a Cheese Steak Sandwich (below, left) and I had a Club Sandwich (below, right). Denise’s Twitter (Mousesteps) was abuzz as to whether it was really a Cheese Steak Sandwich. It has steak, cheese, onions and peppers. It’s her favorite item here! The french fries are also good, closer to a steak fry cut.
For dessert, we split a Brownie Sundae (below, left). It would have been too much dessert for either of us, but it was just right for both. From our seat at the restaurant, we could watch everything going on (below, right) – it reminded me of sitting at Lilian Disney’s table at Club 33.
