Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Play Testing, Dumbo the Flying Elephant Final Flight at Current Location – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

The interactive game, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom (below, left) was play testing on Sunday at the Magic Kingdom. We had just finished up breakfast at Boma with friends when we found out that the testing had just started. We were handed a map (below, left) and 5 spell cards – there are 70 in all – and told to go to Fantasyland to start our adventure.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom (below, left) isn’t quite finished. We aren’t sure what is still to be added, but we were told they were testing all this week. Our 5 spell cards (below, right) included Lightning McQueen, Cinderella, Mama Odie, Woody and Mr. Incredible (below, right). The other card unlocks the adventure at each area.

The inside of the Main Street Fire Station (below, left) was more bare than before, though there are props that still will be added, including the patches that were formerly there. There were fire station props in the back of the room (click HERE to see photos and video of the Fire Station before changes we’re made). Merlin welcomes guests, and then we found out our location to begin. We only received one set of cards between the two of us, but we had friends who played separately and received a set each (below, right). It is better to have more cards, since they equal more spells.

This was our first location (Portal) in Fantasyland (below, left), next to Sir Mickey’s. The lock (below, right) is where we place our card to start the game.

The spell card (below, left) is waved in front of the window to cast a spell. Guests stand on top of the “Circle of Power“, otherwise the spell card doesn’t work. In Fantasyland, Ursula from The Little Mermaid was the villain we needed to battle (below, right).

Video #1 – Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Complete Fantasyland Battle Versus Ursula 1/8/12 Testing – We play tested Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom yesterday. This is the complete Fantasyland battle versus Ursula.

We next went to Adventureland, where the Tortuga Tavern was one of the locations (below, left). Scar from The Lion King appeared in the fireplace at the back of the restaurant (below, right).

Genie from Aladdin and Merlin confer as we watch (below, left). Here is another location in Adventureland (below, right), but you can see that the glare sometimes makes it hard to watch what is going on (below, right). we were told that it will be addressed.

Video #2 – Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, Complete Adventureland Battle Versus Jafar, Play Testing 1/8/12 – We play tested Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom yesterday. This is the complete Adventureland battle versus Jafar.

There are actually four different areas of the park to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. We haven’t had a chance to play on Main Street U.S.A. yet, it wasn’t working the other day. But we did have a chance to try the game in Frontierland/Liberty Square (below, left). Pocohantas (below, right) asks for help in battling Ratcliffe (below, right).

In Frontierland, the game is played on this message board near the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade (below, left). Merlin (below, right) talks to us from his spot driving the Jungle Cruise. We played a total of 4 games in all the opened realms (Lands) for about 2 1/2 hours plus observed some friends games who had different cards and battled differend villains. I look forward to see what additions are in store for this game but it was certainly a hit with our younger friends who tested.

Video #3 – Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Complete Liberty Square, Frontierland Battle Versus Ratcliffe 1/8/12 – We play tested Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom yesterday. This is the complete Liberty Square / Frontierland battle versus Ratcliffe.

We rode Dumbo the Flying Elephant for a final daytime flight (below left and right), so we could get another view over the new Fantasyland wall before Dumbo closed for the move to Storybook Circus.

The buildings in Belle’s Village have changed even in the last few days (below, left)! The queue building for the new Dumbo (below, right) now is yellow with stripes. To see the latest construction at new Fantasyland including the first ever counter clockwise spinning Dumbo being tested please click HERE.

The moon rises over the new Fantasyland (below, left). Cinderella Castle’s Dreamlights were lit one last time for the season (below, right).

Friends of ours were staying onsite, and we joined a large group of friends for Extra Magic Hours to see Dumbo off on the final flight before he heads to Storybook Circus (below, left and right).

Denise and I enjoy a last ride on Dumbo for a while (in fact the last flight in it’s current location ever). The poles and chains were already mostly removed from the queue when we got in line. Dumbo will be moved to the Storybook Circus area of new Fantasyland and should reopen around February 19th. (below, left). Everyone gets together for a final farewell to Dumbo in it’s current location (below, right).

Video #4 – Dumbo the Flying Elephant Final Flight at Current Location 1/8/12 Magic Kingdom, Fantasyland WDW – Dumbo the Flying Elephant had it’s last flight in it’s current location last night. The last flight was during Extra Magic Hours, and the poles and chains were already mostly removed from the queue when we got in line.
