We continue our Disney Dream coverage with the two Broadway-style shows that we enjoyed. The first is of the Golden Mickeys – A Timeless Tribute (below left and right), I’d seen it back in 2004 and was delighted to get to see it again! The show is patterned after awards shows and features performances of classic Disney songs (and a new sequence based on the film “Tangled“)
Snow White performs while surrounded by doves (below, left), before bringing out children dressed in the Seven Dwarfs costumes (plus the real Dopey).
Quasimodo sings “Out There” from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and the “Mulan” performers presented the song “I’ll Make a Man Out of You“, complete with acrobatics.
Sebastian the from “The Little Mermaid” sang along to “Under the Sea“, and Cruella DeVil is held up by her henchmen (below, right).
Woody and Jessie help perform “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from “Toy Story” (below, left). A new addition to Golden Mickeys is a scene from “Tangled“, which starts with Rapunzel singing from the balcony (below, right).
More scenes include performances from the film “The Lion King” and “Beauty and the Beast” (below left and right).
Ensign Benson goes from timid host who had to be prodded by President and CEO of the Walt Disney Company Bob Iger (formerly it was “live” with Roy E. Disney) to a vivacious emcee. The finale includes Mickey and Minnie joining the cast (below, right).
Cruise Director Rachel Quinn (below, left) introduces the new show, “Disney’s Believe“. Dr. Cornelius Greenaway, is a botanist that is so immersed in his work that he doesn’t have time for his daughter Sophia (below, right). She believes in magic and pixie dust, which he doesn’t understand.
Sophia wants her dad to spend time with her for her birthday (below, left), but he’s intent on his one important flower. But soon, Genie from Aladdin shows up, and shows Greenaway that magic does exist after all (below, right).
Characters that are part of the show include Merlin (below, left), who sings “Higitus Figitus” and Mary Poppins (below, right). Mary Poppins is joined by Bert and the chimney sweeps in the rousing numbers “Step in Time” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious“.
Greenaway is joined by a talking, singing Baloo for the song “The Bare Necessities” (below, left). Rafiki is part of the Lion King performance, “Circle of Life” (below, right).
The lovely Lion King segment finale (below, left) leads into the Genie stopping by again with a cold, fruity drink (below, right).
Two of Disney’s newest films had a significant part in the shows we saw. The first was “Tangled” in the Golden Mickeys, which we mentioned earlier. The second was a nice segment from “Princess and the Frog“, with the songs “Gonna Take You There” and “Dig a Little Deeper” (below left and right).
The beautiful segment with a variety of Disney princesses (below, left) presents Greenaway with a future vision of his daughter (below, right). He realizes now what he has and what he’s ignored.
Greenaway dances with his daughter (below, left). He then goes back to the younger Sophia, making sure she has a birthday to remember. They are joined onstage by Sorcerer Mickey and the rest of the cast (below, right) as they take their final bows.

Songs: When You Wish Upon a Star (with a second added part: Makes No Difference Who You Are, so it can answer its sister ships); A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes (Signature Song); Be Our Guest; An Actor’s Life for Me; It’s a Small World; A Pirates Life For Me. You can view Castaway Cay in the background while listening!
