We went to Epcot on the nights of December 29th and 30th, expecting it to be slammed. It was, but World Showcase was actually quite pleasant once we walked past Mexico! There were bars set up for the upcoming holiday (below, left and right).
One of our plans for the first evening was to try the new pizza window at Via Napoli. It is currently in a test stage for the holidays, but hopefully they will keep it! (below left and right) The menu was very limited – thick crust pizza, mini cannoli, and drinks. It was nice to have a fast-food option in the Italy pavilion!

We were able to get in a short line for the Candlelight Processional narrated by Marlee Matlin (below left and right), we could have even walked in and gotten a seat after it started (eventually it did fill up). We were really surprised at this! Actually, we did it two nights in a row.

Marlee Matlin is a wonderful narrator (below left and right). She said she’s been narrating for 12 years – she uses sign language while having Jack Jason interpret. He has been her interpreter and business partner for 25 years!
My favorite conductor is Dr. John Sinclair, who conducted the first night (below left and right). He has been conducting the Candlelight Processional at Epcot for years.
Video #2 – Marlee Matlin Thanks Audience, Choir at End of Candlelight Performance 12/29/10 – Actress Marlee Matlin thanks the audience, the choir, and more at the end of her Candlelight Processional performance at Epcot.
Marlee Matlin smiles at the end of the last Candlelight Processional for the year (below, left). If you can see her in the future, definitely do! She really is one of the most enthusiastic and gracious narrators I’ve ever seen. Almost immediately after the Candlelight Processional ended, the stage was stripped to be set up for a New Years Eve dance party (below, right).
We stayed both nights for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth with the holiday tag. Everything was working wonderfully, from the fire barge (below, left) to the globe (below, right).
Fireworks reflect on World Showcase lagoon (below left and right). A special early edition of this show will be shown tonight at 7:30 pm followed by another showing with New Years Eve countdown at 11:40 pm.
Video #3 – Illuminations: Reflections of Earth with Holiday Tag 2010 – Illuminations: Reflections of Earth with the holiday tag from this year. This is the first high definition video I recorded with my new HD video camera ( I couldn’t ask for a better show to test it out with)!
The lights on the countries stayed on for a half hour or so after the fireworks ended. The Germany pavilion (below, left) and the America pavilion (below, right) looked elegant!
Denise from Mousesteps.com received a new camera for Christmas, and was able to get a photo of the face at the top of the angel on the Epcot Christmas tree (below, left). 2011 New Years Mickey ears were being sold (below, right).
The fountain stage was already set up for the New Years Eve DJ Scooter’s Dance Party tonight at 8:05 & 12:05am (below, left). The flowers in the main entrance are now purple and silver (below, right).
We went to the Polynesian Resort beach and enjoyed the Magic Kingdom “Fantasy in the Sky” New Years Eve edition fireworks (below left and right). The fireworks are incredible and will be shown again tonight at 11:50 pm! Your final New Years Eve fireworks option at Walt Disney World is at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Lights! Camera! Happy New Year! fireworks will be shown at midnight tonight! (we have video from 2009 HERE)
Video #4 – Fantasy In The Sky Fireworks 2010 Magic Kingdom New Years Eve Version 12/30/10 – This is the Magic Kingdom’s “Fantasy In The Sky” New Years Eve Fireworks, recorded 12/30/10 from the Polynesian Beach (and what a great show!). It is only my second time using my new HD video camera so I am still getting used to it but much more to come in 2011!
