Star Wars Weekends, Week 2: Interactive Talking C-3PO, Guests: Matthew Wood, Lorne Peterson and Tom Kane – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

We were very surprised yesterday at Star Wars Weekends to see an interactive talking C3PO in the park! While waiting for the Hyperspace Hoopla, we heard the crowd get a little louder – we turned around, and C3PO was walking by (below left and right). He is fully interactive, in the way that the Mickey Mouse was in a test at Disneyland.

Video #1 – Interactive C-3PO with R2D2 – Star Wars Weekends 2010, Disney’s Hollywood Studios – The new interactive C-3PO with R2D2 at Star Wars Weekends 2010, Disney’s Hollywood Studios. He in incredibly cool in person and even talks to you by name!

UPDATE – Click HERE for another longer video including asking C-3PO if he will be returning for more Star Wars Weekends and if he plans to attend Celebration 2010!

A closer look at his head (below, left) and from the back (below, right). He’s really great looking! The crowd left some of their spots for the Hyperspace Hoopla to get a closer look. C3PO is neither created by Disney nor LucasFilm, and we’ve heard conflicting reports if he’s supposed to be here just this weekend or the remaining weekends.  If you get a chance, stop by and see him!

UPDATE: We decided to head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios today to get some additional photos and video of C-3PO. He and R2-D2 were inside due to the rain, but we stood in line and were able to get both photos (below left and right) as well as a nice video of him (above). We are hoping to get more tomorrow when he is outside!

A Stormtrooper protects Mickey (below, left). The Star Wars characters and celebrities wait for the crowd for the after-motorcade Celebrity Welcome (below, right).

Boba Fett (below, left) confronts a Stormtrooper who’d been mocking him. He blasts the Stormtrooper to bits (below, right) Please click HERE for full video of the skit.

Lorne Peterson (below, left) was very interesting – he created models for all 6 Star Wars films since George Lucas hired him in 1975! Matthew Wood (below, right) is always fun, he voices General Grievous and the Battle Droids in the Clone Wars.

Video #2 – Stars of the Saga Lorne Peterson part 1 of 3 – 5/28/2010 – This is part 1 of 3 of Lorne Peterson’s interview at Star Wars Weekends. He tells of getting his start at ILM, his work on all 6 Star Wars movies and more! Click HERE for Part 2 and Click HERE for Part 3.

Video #3 – Stars of the Saga Matthew Wood part 1 of 2 – 5/28/2010 – This is part 1 of 2 of Matthew Wood’s interview at Star Wars Weekends. He tells of getting his start at Lucasfilm and doing the voices of Battle Droids and General Grevous. Click HERE for Part 2.

Ashley Eckstein (below, left) chats briefly with Jeremy Bulloch at the Clone Wars: Behind the Force show. Tom Kane (below, right) joins Ashley for a discussion onstage.

Video #4 – Behind the Force, Ashley Eckstein, Tom Kane part 1 of 2 – 5/28/2010 – This is part 1 of 2 of Ashley Eckstein’s interview of Tom Kane at Star Wars Weekends. Tom talks about getting his start doing voiceover work and his many voices including Yoda and Admiral Yularen! Click HERE for Part 2.

Ashley Eckstein (below, left) and Jeremy Bulloch (below, right) pose for photos at their respective booths.

I was able to to meet Matthew Wood (below, left) as well as Lorne Peterson and Tom Kane (posing with Yoda, below, right). They were all very nice and seemed to be enjoying their first day at Star Wars Weekends!
