Star Wars Weekends 2010 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Weekend #1 Recap Plus Toy Story Midway Mania Update – Photos and Video

Hi everyone!

This is my second Star Wars Weekends update (read about opening day here), I really enjoyed Sunday even more than Friday – the actors and characters seemed a lot more loose and relaxed. We were able to get there early enough to see the Stormtroopers at the entrance (below, left). The Friday “Legends of the ForceMotorcade had featured the new R2-MK astromech, but that was a one-time event for 2010. Jedi Mickey led the parade as always (below, right).

Video #1 – Imperial Stormtroopers at Entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Star Wars Weekends 5/24/2010 – The Stormtroopers entertain guests as they arrive to Star Wars Weekends.

Darth Goofy (below, left) greets guests. The 501st Legion (below, right) is a volunteer organization that is part of each parade.

Imperial Stormtroopers (below, left) march by, and the Clone Wars’ Dee Bradley Baker (below, right) jumps out of his car to meet fans.

Dee Bradley Baker (below, left) runs though the crowd, slapping hands. Jenga Fett poses for the cameras (below, right).

Chewbacca encourages a roar from the crowd (below, left). At the welcome, Jeremy Bulloch (the host of Star Wars Weekends 2010) talks to the audience while other Star Wars celebrities including Ashley Eckstein, Dee Bradley Baker, Teruera Morrison, Daniel Logan and assorted characters pose!

Video #2 – Legends of the Force, Celebrity Motorcade 2010 – Star Wars Weekends 5/23/10 – Star Wars Weekends 2010 – Legends of the Force, Celebrity Motorcade Recorded 5/23/10. Watch for a surprise from Dee Bradley Baker!

There is a new Stormtrooper skit (below, left) before Stars of the Saga – some of it is the same, but much has changed last year. One Stormtrooper (below, right) takes a shot to the groin – that is the same as last year!

Video #3 – Stars of the Saga Star Wars Weekends Pre-Show Stormtroopers 5/21/10 – New! Part 1 – This pre-show is a fan favorite at Walt Disney World, it was changed this year.

Video #4 – Stars of the Saga Star Wars Pre-Show Stormtroopers 5/21/10 – New! Part 2 – This is the conclusion of the Stormtroopers pre-show skit. Check it out for a surprise ending! (or near-ending)

Ashley Eckstein (below, left) and Dee Bradley Baker (below, right) showcase their voice talent in  “Clone Wars: Behind the Force“.  This show is always a lot of fun!

Video #5 – “Behind The Force” Ashley Eckstein and Dee Bradley Baker Star Wars Weekends 5/23/10 – This is a very funny talk with Ashley Eckstein and Dee Bradley Baker!

Boba’s Bounty (below, left) had a very long wait on Friday, but we only waited 5 or so minutes to get in on Sunday. The Starspeeder 1000: Sneak Preview Vehicle (below, right) is a Celebration V exclusive. (August 12th-15th in Orlando) It will be offered in a limited edition of 10,000 and will retail for $24.95.

The StarSpeeder 1000 is an earlier version of the StarSpeeder 3000 currently in use in the Star Tours. (below, left) I was told that the audio from the toy will give a big clue to who will be doing the voice on the upcoming Star Tours 2.0 attraction! Temuera Morrison mugs for the camera while signing autographs (below, right).

Aurra Sing signs an autograph for a fan (below, left). We met Ashley Eckstein (below, right) in line for the fantastic carrot cake cookies at the Writers Stop, and she told us about her new venture that offers Star Wars clothing for female fans.  Her company is called “Her Universe” and also will include cosmetics and jewelry. The shirt she’s wearing is from the line! She is looking for input from fans on what they’d like designed on the clothing, you can also find Ashley on her Facebook page!

Toy Story Midway Mania (below, left) now has a new game, “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts” as well as new Toy Story 3 characters that have been added to the attraction. Artwork by Andy shows dinosaurs (below, right).

Lotso Huggin’ Bear is shown (below, right) alongside other new characters from the upcoming Pixar film, Toy Story 3. We rode this 3 times yesterday (thanks to our friend Kevin, who had extra Fast Passes!) Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts (below, right) replaced the former Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon Pop (dart throw game).

The pictures (below left and right) show the new game. I enjoyed the change and plussing of the other games and see much potential for this. It could showcase new characters and change for special events/holiday overlays (imagine the games taking place in the Star Wars universe for Star Wars Weekends for example).

Video #6 – Toy Story Midway Mania “Toy Story 3” Additions (Including New Dino Darts Game) 5/24/2010 – Toy Story Midway Mania has a new “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts” game (replacing the Bo Peep game), and you can see new Toy Story 3 characters in several places as well.
