Magic Kingdom Fantasyland Update, Epcot Weekend Update and Concert Series: Herman’s Hermits with Peter Noone – Photos and Videos

Hi everyone!

The walls are now up around Ariel’s Grotto, and they may have gone up today at Pooh’s Playful Spot as well (we’ll be back there on Thursday to check it out). We first stopped at Ariel’s Grotto on Sunday, to see it one last time before it closed. You can see the dining area (below, left) and the statue of Ariel (below, right).

Sebastian the crab sits among the coral (below left and right). This is a kids play area that shoots water from the ground as you pass. I am told Princess Ariel (likely in her ball gown) will be joined by Prince Eric for a new meet-and-greet at the Veranda in Adventureland. Currently Lilo and Stitch are there but Stitch will soon be moving back to Tomorrowland while Lilo heads back to Animal Kingdom.

Some of the remaining volcanic rock from the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction surround Ariel (below, left). Guests sit to eat in an area that was formerly used for special event dance parties and dining (below, right).

On Monday, the walls went up around Ariel’s Grotto (below left and right).

A longer view shows how far the wall extends (below, left). Over at Castle Couture, we were able to get some pictures inside the new PhotoPass room where young guests have their photos taken after makeovers at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (below, right).

Cinderella’s dress is part of the decor (below, left) and the area where photos are taken is below, right.

Video #1 – Fantasyland Expansion from the Train, 4/12/2010 Magic Kingdom – This is video from the train, about 30 seconds in you can see where some of the Fantasyland Expansion is going on. At least part of the work may be for a new retention pond.

The Walt Disney World Railroad rolls past an area in Mickey’s Toontown Fair that currently has a retention pond, but that will soon be dry to make way for a cast member area for the Fantasyland expansion (below left and right).

The Adventureland bathrooms have closed after the big spring break rush for a few more weeks (below, left) and Exposition Hall now is boarded up inside to make way for new meet-and-greets (below, right).

Cinderella’s Coach was waiting to whisk a new bride to the Grand Floridian (below left and right).

High school bands marched through the walkways of Epcot as part of Magic Music Days (below left and right). It is very unusual to see this in Epcot!

I took part in another Epcot Flower and Garden Festival seminar, this one was about irrigation. We then had a project that allowed us to create another plant to take home (below, left). The Mexico Cantina construction looks different each day we are there! (below, right).

Two more photos show the progress of the Cantina (below left and right).

Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone did a fantastic job at the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival’s Flower Power concerts! This was the first time I’d seen him, and we went to 4 shows (if we could have gone to more, we would have). He has a great personality and it shows during every song (below left, with fans waving British flags and right).

Peter Noone kicks during one of his numbers (below, left) and points into the crowd during another (below, right). If you ever have a chance to see him, definitely take the opportunity to!

Video #3 – Peter Noone and Hermans Hermits “Henry the VII” 4/9/10 3rd Show, Epcot – Henry the VIII from the terrific Peter Noone at the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival! This is from the 3rd show of the night.
